Technical Information:
The most common problem goggle users have is fogging, which happens when the
inner lens surface cools below the dew point. Humidity inside the goggle doesn't
help the situation--the more humid the air, the more potential for fog. Smith
goggles use a combination of technological advancements to prevent or discourage
lens fogging. Fog-X™ lens Coating is a hydrophilic coating permanently bonded to
the inner lens to absorb moisture before fog can form. Scientifically proven to
be the most effective anti-fog treatment available. SmithFlex™ Lens: Two single
lenses bonded together with a sealed "dead air" space between them create an
insulative thermal barrier that keeps the inner lens warm and dry. Breathable
Foam Membrane: Allows air to circulate through the lens chamber while filtering
out fog-causing moisture and snow particles. Each line has it's own added system
of ventilation to further reduce fogging.
Two essential elements to good vision are visual acuity and contrast
sensitivity. Understanding the differences between these elements and improving
on them is key to enhanced visual clarity. Visual acuity is the ability to pick
out details. Contrast sensitivity is the ability to judge differences in color
and recognize the distance between objects near and far. Smith offers a wide
variety of interchangeable lens tints to enhance vision in all light and weather
conditions.
Protection from the Sun: All Smith lenses provide 100%
protection from dangerous light waves. No exceptions.
The Perfect Fit: Smith goggles fit well. This enhances
not only the wearer's comfort but overall performance as well. Split "V" Nose
provides self-adjusting fit around the nose. Extra-wide strap gives it a more
comfortable, more secure fit. Face Foam is soft, hypoallergenic foam that's
designed to form a complete seal around the face. SmithFlex™ lenses conforms to
any face profile for a custom fit and distortion-free vision.
Do's
and Don'ts: Following a few simple guidelines will ensure a
comfortable and enhanced fog-free day on the slopes. Make sure your new
goggles form a tight seal on your face. Try goggles on as if you were on the
slopes (wear your helmet or hat). Do not put your goggles on your
forehead. The heat that evaporates from your forehead creates moisture,
which increases the humidity level and promotes fogging. Try to leave your
goggles on unless you can keep them dry when you take them off. Do not
wipe your goggles with excess snow in them. If your goggles become filled
with snow, knock out the majority of snow. Then use a soft cloth to mop out the
majority of the moisture. Ideally, find a restroom automatic hand dryer to
fully dry the lens.
Distortion-free Spherical-X lenses,
Regulator airflow control, custom painted frames, and compression molded
foam combine to make these goggles the ideal product for expert style
and conscious users alike. Utilizing highly polished optical molds and
Carbonic-X lens material, each Spherical-X lens is individually molded
to mimic the curvature of the eye to provide exact vision and eliminate
distortion. The Spherical-X lenses also increase volume inside the
goggle to allow greater air circulation, which reduces the potential for
fogging. Perfect for deep powder or high speeds.
PMT (Peforated Membrane Technology) offers
improved performance through active ventilation system that clears fog by
allowing moist air to evacuate from the inside of the goggle. Ideal for
those who insist on enhanced fog-free reliability.
A patented, adjustable ventilation system allows the wearer to
increase or reduce airflow and ultimately control humidity inside the goggle to
reduce fogging. All regulator lenses are individually molded from Carbonic-X
material for high definition optics. This advanced performance feature is
perfect for demanding riders and contact lens wearers in all weather conditions.
Especially those who find themselves in deep powder, cold temperatures, or
moving at aggressive speeds.
Smith sets the standard in goggle
performance with our patented technological advancement in Constant Air
Management. A silent micro fan runs continuously for up to fifty
hours, on the low setting, to draw air through strategically placed vents to
eliminate fogging. The result is perfect vision. A high power mode can
be activated to clear moisture build-up in extreme situations. The
design is sleek, lightweight, and perfect for those in search of the
ultimate in fog-free vision. Optional Ocular Docking System prescription

The Classic Series offers good fog protection using frame
venting and Fog-X anti-fog coating in both single and double lens models.

Rose Platinum (RP-25): Rose base lens tint
increases depth perception in very sunny to partly cloudy conditions.
Mirror coating provides increased glare protection and scratch
resistance. 25% visible light transmission.
Rose Copper (RC-36): The universal lens tint.
Combines rose and copper base tints. Provides the absolute best
vision in most conditions. Increases depth perception and cuts
glare in all conditions. 36% visual light transmission.
Gold (G-42): Gold base lens tint filters out blue light for
enhanced shadow contrast in moderately flat light conditions. 42%
visual light transmission.
Gold Lite (GL-55): Outstanding multi-purpose gold lite lens
filters reflected blue light to provide superior contrast, shadow
definition and depth perception in bright, overcast and flat light
conditions. 55% visual light transmission.
Rose (R-59): Rose base lens tint brightens details while
boosting depth perception in varying levels of flat light conditions.
59% visual light transmission.
Yellow (Y-68): Brilliant yellow base lens tint increases
visual acuity in extremely flat and low light conditions. 68%
visual light transmission.
Clear (C-98): Clear lens tint excellent for nighttime use.
98% visual light transmission.
Sienna (S-10): Dark sienna brown base tint ideal for very
bright and sunny conditions. 10% visual light transmission.
