Fin Testing Robot: This test
involves scientific testing of energy consumption rates and speed
performance, and then analyzes the resulting data. For instance,
they can measure how long it takes the robot to swim a 20m pool and what
the electrical resistance load was during that time in order to evaluate
fin performance in a manner that's much more scientific than possible with
human testers.
Flow Pool Test: TUSA had 4 adult
maile swimmers use the fins in a flow pool while oxygen uptake and heart
rates were measured. TUSA was able to scientifically evaluate the
difference among leg muscles and fin kicking, as well as measure the
pressure applied to the front and back of the fins using air-pack contact
pressure meters.
Air Consumption Performance Test:
In house testing team performed measurement tests on each of the fins to
determine the air consumption rates and to maximize efficiency.
Global Monitoring: However, TUSA
realilzes that testing under real conditions is very important.
That's why they send out prototype models to diving shops around the world
during development process, in order to have real instructors and guide
divers test them in normal circumstances. Furthermore, they have
monitoring groups which are made up of regular divers who use the products
and give their opinions, which is fed back into the development process.

SF-6 Imprex Tri-Ex
TUSA's unique Advanced
Multi-Flex Blade, made from 3 different materials. Fins with
world-class efficiency, making the most of your energy. In 1993 TUSA
introduced the SF-7700 (IMPREX fin) to the market. This fin achieves
strong propulsion by combining two different materials to create an
efficient water channeling action. Since it first went on sale, over
600,000 divers have used it worldwide. The IMPREX fit has been the
undisputed leader in the plastic fin market. Now, 10 years later, it is
moving to the next development stage. The next generation IMPREX Tri-Ex
fin utilizes 3 different materials. Firs is the side rib (hard material),
efficiency converting the energy of a kick into propelling power.
Second is the blade (medium-hard material), efficiently converting the
energy of a kick into propelling power. Second is the blade (medium-hard
material), increasing the efficiency of the water channel. Third is the
soft pocket (soft material), enhancing the fitting comfort of the boots.
The designers expanded the blade angle theory that had produced a strong
propulsion force with only a light kick in the SF-8 model. Tested
with fin testing robot, and flow pool test. From tests, blade was set at
20 degrees, the most comfortable for the diver. This means that less
initial load (energy) is required when first starting to kick compared
with conventional products. This ensures that body fatigue and air
consumption is minimized.

SF-8
X-Pert Zoom
Propeller-fin
technology and super lightweight design achieve the ultimate performance
with less effort. Angled design for maximum kicking efficiency.
When using the standard, flat fit, propulsion is inhibited solely by fault
of design. When the leg is completely extended, there remains an
angle of 27 degrees between the heel of the foot and the calf of the leg.
This 27-degree angle causes 10% of the propulsion that is produced by the
kicking motion to be lost. Because the fin is angled below the body,
during the kick phase, the body is pushed up and toward instead of
straight ahead. With the SF-8 fin, that 27 degree angle has been
incorporated into the fin. This means that when the leg is fully extended,
even though the angle exists between the foot and calf, the fin ends up
parallel to the leg. 100% of the energy expended during the kicking phase
is directed toward the propulsion of the diver. |

Imprex
SF-9900, 7700, 8800
T-Bondex/Elastomer
resin, double layered construction (patented). High performance
Multi-Flex-Blades. TUSA patented easy to adjust strap features quick
release buckles. Super comfort open heel foot pockets. The
IMPREX fin blade itself is made of different materials. The outside ribs
are made from stiff material and between the ribs you'll find softer, more
pliable material. The middle ribs are more compliant than the outer
ribs which allows the fin to effectively channel the water while you swim,
similar to the whip-like motions of the dolphin. SF-9000 in EX-Large
size. SF-7700 is regular size. SF-8800 is small size.
