Gargoyles' founder, Dennis Burns, identified the need for a dramatically new concept in performance eyewear. The Dual-Lens Toric Curve Design™ :
Unlike ordinary sunglass lenses, Gargoyles Dual-Lens Toric Curve™  design is not spherical in shape. Instead, this advanced lens design features a horizontal curvature similar to that of a 10-base lens, and a vertical curvature similar to that of a 5-base lens. The result is the Gargoyles Dual-Lens-Toric Cruve™  design provides up to 210 degrees of peripheral coverage--the most extreme wrap on the market.  

The human eye is extremely sensitive to misalignment of light rays. Gargoyles engineers discovered that the optimal lens design for minimizing peripheral distortion requires dual-lenses.  In a dual-lens design, the optical center of each lens can be aligned with the visual center of the eye. The alignment ensures that visual distortion is minimized when looking straight ahead and when viewing objects at extreme peripheral angles.  This eliminates eye irritation, headaches and dizziness, associated with long-term use of competing lens designs--a key reason why demanding medical professionals and the military have chose to wear Gargoyles.

The end of distortion as we know it.  Have you ever felt tired or suffered from a headache after wearing ordinary sunglasses all day?  This is the result of your eyes automatically and involuntarily correcting for refraction, a type of distortion.  With most sunglasses, your eyes must continually work to correct for refraction caused by light bending as it passes through the lenses.

Our Classics are 50 times stronger than safety glass and 20 times stronger than structural aluminum. They exceed the ANSI Z87.1 and OSHA requirements. 

All Gargoyles lenses guard your eyes with 100% UVA, B and C protection.  Our lenses our coated with a NASA derived scratch-resistant and anti-fog coating, which offer 30% more protection than conventional coatings.

For a confident, bold look, this group of distinctive sunglasses makes a mark; they have a strong balance of both form and function, adding volumes to the 2008 product line.  Rubber temple tips are patterned with a unique micro-signal design, and the metal Gargoyles logo at the temple is pierced for an integrated detail.  Smart hinges have a snap-hinge structure.

G-Force lenses are made from the highest quality polycarbonate material for impact resistance.  Our lenses are 20 times more impact resistant than CR-39 and 50% lighter than glass.  Polycarbonate lenses are distortion free so light is naturally directed into the eye to minimize eye strain and fatigue.  Our lenses provide 100% protection from UVA, B & C radiation and exceed all ANSI standards for optical clarity and impact resistance.

Comfort:
Our frames are made with advanced nylon composites and nickel silver metal.  The advanced nylon frames are extremely lightweight and strong but still maintain their shape making them perfectly suited for extreme performance and comfort.  Our metal frames are made of nickel silver, making them tough as nails, yet amazingly light and comfortable.  Spring-hinge temples withstand rough handling and ensure a custom fit.

Terrain:  Brown lens.  Weather and terrain conditions on the trail or stream can vary drastically: The Gargoyles Brown lens has been specially calibrated to provide superior optics in changing environmental light and shadow.   Different terrains require specialized lens protection.  Gargoyles Mission Series Terrain offers ultimate protection to block harmful or excessive light in high and low elevations, reducing eye fatigue and enhancing visual contrast.  The unique brown color, combined with Nano-Flection coating enhancer, brightens details and protects from glare.  Suitable for climbing, fishing, hiking or any performance activity in land-based terrain.   Brown lenses booth depth perception and reduce glare in both high and low light conditions. 

Drive: Copper lens.  Lens technology formulated for varying light conditions on road or track.  In driving situations, bright exterior light contrasts with shadowed interiors, but both require uncompromised vision.  Gargoyles has developed Mission Series: Drive, with a dual-intensity lens tint that increases contrast and sharpens visual acuity in both bright light and low light conditions.  The copper lens tint heightens details while boosting depth perceptions in a range of environments, from fog and drizzle to intense daytime sun.  The copper lens offers optimal image contras and uncompromised visibility, protecting the eyes from harm. Game:  Green lens.  Enhanced vision in rapid-action sport situations, when light and focal needs can alter by the second.  Anyone on the field of play routinely faces challenging conditions, ranging from excessive  heat and bright sun to flat or low light.  A good lens must respond to these needs, improving contrast and visual accuracy.   Thus, the Mission Series: Game lenses provide greater protection without sacrificing accurate vision.  The special green tint, with Non-Flection Graphite enhancer, eliminates glare from the red end of the spectrum, reducing stress on the eyes and allowing objects to be seen clearly.  The green tint, tailored to the color sensibility of the human eye, reduces color distortion.  Lenses cut glare and offer good balance of target and background brightness. 

React:   Smoke lens.  Calibrated to react to any situation or landscape, reducing glare, enhancing detail, and improving contrast.  Split second lighting alterations in land, snow or water settings can affect performance.  Mission Series: React lenses soothe glare, enabling variations to be seen clearly.  Spectrum-sensitive filters highlight the critical red, greens and yellows, increasing depth perception and allowing the user to "read" sky, snow, or water backgrounds more easily.  The smoke tint provides comfort in extremely reflective conditions and allows for normal color sensitivity, as well as adaptation to low light when the sun sets.  Optimal in many high contrast scenarios, including forested and urban environments.  Offers sharp contrast and precise image resolution, boosting depth perception in varying levels of light.  Protects eyes from harmful glare and harsh sun. 

Nano-Flection Coating:  Mirrored lenses are treated with a micro film that repels the grime of a rough and tumble day.  The highly scratch resistant and smudge-resistant coating ensures maximum lens protection and lenses stay cleaner longer. The unique mirror finish coating resists dust, moisture and oils including fingerprints.
