Multiple prescription options available. Prices shown for all options are for single vision (SV) prescription lenses only. Progressive lenses are available in store only or see our prescription information page for other options for obtaining progressive lenses.
Option #1: RX insert (full rim insert or Rimless insert). Maximum prescription range -7.00 to +4.00 total power (sphere plus cylinder). This is a piece that carries the prescription and snaps in behind the non-prescription Rudy Project lenses. This allows you to change out the front lens for various light conditions while only purchasing one pair of prescription lenses. This is the most economical way to go and is a good option for contact lens wearers who only need to occasionally insert the prescription adapter. The full rim is more solid design (less fragile). Eyesize: A: 43, B: 32. The rimless adapter is less noticeable but is held with a wire so may be more fragile. Eyesize: A=44, B=33. There is also a full rimmed adapter designed for progressive or bifocal lens wearers (deeper top to bottom to allow for progressive lens heights). Eyesize: A=47, B=36 (note we don't sell bifocal/progressive lenses online). Est. Processing time: 5 to 7 business days. Coatings add an extra week.
Option #2: "Direct In Clip" is a lens carrier that hold the prescription lenses and replaces the non-prescription lenses. This option will be similar to the "direct in" lenses with the exception that a small fishing line/wire will be holding the lens in. This allows for standard lens manufacturing technology so you can have prescription lenses made with any lab for a wider variety of lens colors. This is also a little more economical and the prescription range is a little higher (+2.00 to -4.00) than "direct in" lenses. The look will be similar to direct in with a single lens design (not an insert behind the lens like the option above). Option #3: "Direct In" is where the prescription is made just like the non-prescription lens, direct into the frame. Direct in lenses feature Rudy Project's revolutionary ImpactRX™ program with Eyepoint freeform technology giving a wider field of vision and virtually eliminating distortion issues associated with wrap lenses. Note: Rudy project no longer allows lenses only to be purchased. If you already have the frame, you can purchase lenses only but you will have to mail your frame in to have prescription lenses cut to your frame. Solar Radiation and Eye Care: Light is an electromagnetic ray characterized by its wave length and measured in nanometers (1 nm=1/1,000,000 of a mm). The ultraviolet rays (UVA, B and C) are the most dangerous rays for our eyes. Our lenses absorb all the ultraviolet rays: the residual transmission is less that 0.001% up to the 385nm (the wave length at which the visible spectrum begins). The lens receives an application of metal ions of chrome or silicon oxide, calculated in such a way as to provide a precise absorption factor.
Polarized: Polycarbonate lenses: Lightweight and more impact resistant than glass lenses. The polarizing film cuts through glare and harsh sun reflections, enabling wearers to see clearly in bright light conditions and minimize eye fatigue. Available in gray and brown, they transmit 22% of visible light. Perfect for surfers, anglers, boaters and sun-worshipers.
RP-D-Centered™: The optical axis is maintained parallel to the main axis of vision, permitting maximum utilization of lenses with extensive curvature (basis 6-8), respecting the need of optical quality and visual clarity.
