  1. Excellent although clearly a budget line review by JayJayTray on 1/11/2018
    Overall Performance

Got an Rx set of these this year and absolutely love them. The thing to know is that the XX2i line is the 'budget' frame line for Project Rudy. So apparently when you order these you get the Rudy lenses with a cheaper frame.

Because I wanted these for cycling, and often end up riding into twilight or beyond, but still use them also in bright sun, I wanted a light tint... Customer service with SportEyes helped me with the choices, which can be a bit confusing (still some of the other tints are a bit confusing and sound very similar TBH...) I ended up with Racing Red, which was very pricey but just amazing. Takes the edge off in bright sun but very livable when you get caught as sun starts to go down.

The lenses are absolutely fantastic, especially for a wrap-around glass. Honestly I want to wear these all the time. I guess that's why they cost a bomb, and its the ol' get whatcha pay fer syndrome.

The frames themselves look great and fit great, and are absolutely perfect for my application, but indeed are clearly a lower quality than I expect the Project Rudy's are.

I love them so much I was tempted to look at the Rudy's for another pair, but the frame-alone price difference of something like $150-200 (depending on which similar Rudy you are looking at...) is tough to swallow (esp. when the Rx lenses alone are $250) so if I had it to do again or had these broken yes I'd probably get another of them, even though you can tell the plastic is a bit on the cheaper side. But again, the fit and features are still all very good, and they come with a big collection of accessories - a zip-case with storage for extra lenses, extra rubber parts, a light drawstring bag, etc. I guess I'll just have to take good care of them and hope they hold up.
