Gray lenses:

Gray is neutral and good for those with light sensitivities and those wanting true color perception. Will seem the darkest of all the tints. Good general purpose lens.

Brown lenses:

Brown is for high contrast/depth perception but does change color perception.  Good for ball sports with white balls like baseball and golf, or for mountain biking or trail running in and out of trees. Can go from overcast to bright days.
