Learn more5 Tips for Choosing Kids Swim Goggles
Your everyday swimmers often utilize the same basic equipment: a swimsuit, perhaps a swim cap, and goggles. To have a successful swimming trip or lesson you kids will need goggles that are tailored to their needs. So, what do you look for when you are trying to find the perfect pair? Here are some things to keep in mind before you make a purchase. What purpose will they serve? Many swimmers may not know there are different goggles for different swimming activities. Depending on the activity, there are different shades, lens colors, and fits. If you are swimming indoors, then you may not want lenses with a darker shade. What size of gasket are you looking for? Generally, the smaller the gasket, the better. When you have a smaller gasket you are less resistant to water. But you also must keep in mind that purchasing goggles that feel comfortable on your child’s face is always priority number one. Are the seals made of rubber, silicone, foam or plastic? This is the part of the goggles that contact the skin around your eyes and will create pressure around the sockets. In most cases, a silicone or rubber material is optimal because it creates suctions around the eyes to keep water out. In recent years, silicone has become a popular choice, but tends to be a little bit pricier. Also, some people are allergic to latex, which is sometimes found in swimming goggles. If you are allergic to latex, check with the manufacturer to make sure the goggles you are selecting are latex-free. How do they fit around your eyes? It is vital you select a pair of goggles for your child that are neither too big nor too small. If your eyelashes are touching the inside of your goggles when you blink, it is a sign that you might want to opt for a larger pair. Comfort may not seem like a big deal if your child is planning to swim for a short period of time, but if you plan to swim for longer than 30 minutes or so, a comfortable pair will go a long way in helping them enjoy their time in the water. Does your child need a prescription? Owning prescription goggles may not be necessary, but it’s certainly a nice feature. Obviously, you cannot wear your glasses in the water and anyone who wears contacts knows it can be frustrating trying to swim with contact lenses. Perhaps prescription goggles are the perfect solution for your child. At Sport Eyes, we provide a variety of high quality children’s swimming goggles for every need. For more information about how to choose swimming goggles for yourself or a loved one, browse the Sport Eyes blog.

Buying new ski goggles isn't complicated, but there are some basic considerations to keep in mind. If you haven't already, read our blog on "Tips for Buying Ski Goggles or Snowboard Goggles" to understand what to look for. There are so many good snow goggles on the market today, but we’ve narrowed down a handful of our favorites for men. All of the ski goggles below are shatter-resistant polycarbonate material, provide 100% UV Protection, and can accommodate prescription inserts. Bolle Nevada The Bolle Nevada is one of my favorite goggles for men. I love the sleek look of it and the many lens options. The Phantom lens is photochromic, meaning that it changes from light to dark depending on the conditions. If you ski in very sunny locations, try the Polarized option with the Phantom lens to minimize the glare off the snow. With a wide variety of goggle and lens color, there is something for everyone here. Avail in size Large and Small. Julbo Aerospace Julbo has worked with professional athletes to develop a unique solution to fogging. Rather than using fans or gels or sprays to dissipate fog condensation, simply pull the lens out and away from the frame to create a natural airflow. Use when standing in lines or resting on the slope. This high-end goggle only offers light-changing (photochromic) lenses so you never need to carry extra lenses or face the tough choice of "which goggle should I use today?" Fits size Large. Bolle Supreme OTG If you wear everyday glasses and still want to wear snow goggles, the Bolle Supreme OTG is the perfect choice for you. This goggle has cutouts in the side foam to accommodate most daily wear glasses. Special venting helps minimize fogging. Fits size Medium/Large. Rudy Project Klonyx The Klonyx by Rudy Project is ergonomically shaped and offers a wide field of vision. Lenses are interchangable, so you can swap out depending on the light conditions, or purchase the photochromic (light-changing) lens to simplify. While most photochromic goggles change from lightly tinted to a much darker tint, this is one of the few photochromic goggles that starts at nearly clear so can be used for very overcast conditions or night-skiing. An optional nose piece can be snapped on to protect your nose from stinging snow and ice. Fits size Medium/Large. Bolle Sierra The Sierra by Bolle is a great, basic all-around goggle. The gold, vermilion, or aurora color lenses all provide protection from sun and UV and give contrast to the snow. There is no photochromic lens option with this goggle. Fits size Small to Medium. These ski and snowboard goggles can all be found at sporteyes.com - along with a great selection of goggles for women, children, and teens.
